It was a great pleasure when Emmanuel introduced me to the orphanage foundation which takes care of many children from different backgrounds. The foundation had many projects which I participated in like the agricultural project which helped me to learn how to grow banana and harvest it. The children at the orphanage are given bright future through supporting them to attain education. I am really missing you guys hope to come again soon with more of my friends. Since I was in Uganda on a volunteering role, I enjoyed going to the garden and cultivate the crops which were to be later harvested and taken to the foundation for the kids to feed.
I also participated in other voluntary works like training children on how to be strong in life and also teaching them to love God since I was coming in to the foundation from the Christian background.
During my stay at the foundation, I also the children that wisdom comes to people who respect and love God and I told the children that the reason they got to be in this orphanage is simple! It is because God loves them because no of them applied to be in the orphanage but it was the blood of Jesus Christ that worked upon the man of God McMillan that gave him courage and strength to start up such a foundation because not everyone can sacrifice to do such a home for the future children, presidents and doctors. Besides teaching the children the word of God, I also went head to volunteer at the love Uganda foundation offices which was located in the other side of town in Kampala.
At this office I happened to meet up with many other people who would come to check in and for inquiries. This was so encouraging because it showed me that Love Uganda foundation has got strong roots and trust in the local people of Uganda and that’s why I will come back next time with all the other members of the church and we volunteer at the foundation. And also God willingly I will come prepared to do some round safari in Uganda because McMillan told me a lot about Uganda and how beautiful this country was!
By the time I left Uganda, I had made a close contact with the children in the orphanage and I remember one boy wanted me to stay with them forever because he said to me that since he was born, he never got a chance to see his parents and that he never got a chance to have the moms love and because I stayed at the orphanage with for some good time, these children started calling me Mummy!
And I can tell you that’s respect which I never called for but because the children of God felt my love I showed to them and it was good enough to call me mummy. And that’s why I promised them that I was going to come back with a bigger group and be with them for some good time and maybe take them on a safari with us so that they can also see the rest of their country.
Besides me coming back to Uganda, I also made my pledge to the management of the foundation that I was going to try as much as I can to find well-wishers and also material things like clothes and shoes to send for these children at the orphanage before I come back my second visit
