One of the ways through which Love Uganda Foundation supports women is through empowering them with vocational skills and training which is currently done in Kalagi. At the Love Women`s Center, the women are trained in the making of arts, crafts, tailoring, crocheting to mention but a few. Love Uganda Foundation also started a savings and credit group for the women under its program.
The saving group is called Love Women`s Savings and Loans Association (LWSLA) and it offers loans to its members. Only members who have completed the training provided at the Love Women`s Center are allowed to join the savings group. Love Uganda Foundation is currently only able to run the Love Women`s Center in Kalagi but it has some of its activities ongoing in Gulu and Kabale with the SACCO. Whenever a member of the group gets money from the SACCO, 70% of their earnings go to paying their loan and 30% of their earnings go to her savings account. Although the program is currently limited, Love Uganda Foundation hopes to expand to different regions of Uganda with time when funds allow.
By making women financially self-sustaining, Love Uganda Foundation seeks to attain SDG 5(Sustainable Development Goal 5) as with concern to achieving Gender Equality.
